Hey folks,
It's been a little while. We probably have a few things to share... Erin set us to a Pinterest project last weekend that turned out pretty good. But it seems silly to move on before sharing our Greenville updates!
At the beginning of April we took a week off from work to visit home and do some scouting. We left on Friday and made it to Atlanta in time to enjoy Mocktail with our Nav friends. We loved seeing you guys, and we missed those of you who couldn't make it.
Then we spent the weekend with my family. It was the first time I got to visit home (for more than 2 hours) since Christmas, so I was really thankful for the time. One of the best things about the move to Greenville is how close we will be to home. Being a grown up with a job and living 9 hours from home sure makes it hard to see family and friends. I imagine this changes a little bit as you get older and have children... As you really start to make your own life. But just because you get married, move away, and start new jobs doesn't mean EVERYTHING changes at that moment.
Anyways, on Sunday night we drove up to find our next home...
As chief chef, my favorite part is the kitchen. Brand new appliances. That's what's up. And I like the island a lot. And it's more open to the living room than what we have now.
Erin's a big fan of the dark cabinets. I wish I had been fast enough with the camera to get a picture of her mouthing "LOVE!" to me behind Amanda's back.
So that's that. I don't imagine that you want to see an empty bedroom, or our washing machine... Oh, Erin liked the bathroom a lot. She's excited to have a linen closet, and adores the framed mirror. But I didn't upload that picture, so you can just close your eyes and imagine it if you want.
Or come visit us and see for yourself!
We had to give up a few things that we like about our place now... But there are definitely some things we're looking forward to about our new place. And we're paying less rent- can't argue with that!
On Tuesday afternoon we stopped by Erin's new site for a visit with her new boss. She's a little bit nervous so you can be praying for her as she figures her career out. Change always makes things tricky.
We
spent the rest of the week with Erin's family, minus Ashton, on the
boat, including a visit one night from Paige and Chip. Perfect way to
end a vacation, especially after the stress of major decision making!

Anyways, on Sunday night we drove up to find our next home...
The
next day we began our search for a new apartment. The weather was
fantastic and we had 3 days to work with, in stark contrast to the "a
hurricane is coming" atmosphere of our Baton Rouge apartment search!
But
by the end of our first day we were already burnt out. It WAS a long
day of searching... We saw close to 10 different places I believe. We
had scheduled visits to all of our favorite options on Monday so we
narrowed everything down to 3 options and tried not to think about it
too much that night... Give our heads a chance to breathe. We had
dinner with Marie Cely, a good friend from the Clemson Navs, and then
went to our hotel.
After
a restless night of sleep, complete with endless dreams of apartment
floor plans, we cancelled our other visits and set ourselves to
scrutinizing the top 3. It was a stressful process... It's hard to
compare apples and oranges. Especially when you love the apple you have
NOW so much! :)
But in the end, we decided on our new home!
It's a brand new place called The Aventine.
In fact, half of the place is still under construction... Though it
will be finished by the time we move in, mostly at least. This place is
probably responsible for the difficulty of our decision making. Most
places have a list (usually short) of the vacancies they will have
around the time you want to move in. This makes things simple because it
doesn't matter what your preferences are. You either take it or you
don't. Because Aventine is brand new, there were TONS of options.
Hardwood or carpet? First, second, or third floor? Balcony, bigger
living room, or neither? One bedroom or two bedroom? Nine foot ceilings,
tray ceilings, or neither? Which building do you want? Which direction
do you want to face? Do you want a corner unit?
Get the picture? The sales lady, Amanda, must have been absolutely sick of us by the end because I don't know how many different quotes we asked for! To her credit, she put on a friendly face all the way through.

In
the end we did pick a one bedroom... but don't let that deter you from
visiting us! We'll be closer than ever and our living room is bigger
than what we have now.

That's my last picture, so it's time to wrap things up.
We're
back home now, make the most of our time in Baton Rouge. I looked at a
calendar yesterday and realized May is pretty much the only thing
between us and the move! We move out on June 7, just in time to make it
to Nathan and Raina's wedding, and we move into our new place (on paper
anyways) on June 10.
Shortly thereafter we'll start taking applications for visitors!
Oh, one last thing. I started doing a project called 1 Second Every Day. The idea is to take one second of video every day, and ultimately string them all together. I'm not perfect at it, I miss days here and there- especially when I'm not doing anything particularly out of the ordinary. (I'm too stubborn to settle with something "boring" and don't get around to doing anything until it's too late) Anyways, I'm posting it on Facebook as I go. March is up now, and April will be soon. Here's a little taste: the days from our Greenville trip!
Love you all,
God bless.
